Andamans series • #10
Dear Andaman,
You stole my heart. You gave me so much more than I ever expected. Ofcourse I came to meet you without expecting anything. But flights got cancelled, a Ferry was missed and too many things got messed up. Adventures kept happening, one thing led to another and before I knew, you had already begun to open up before me. You gave me so much freedom. The freedom to pause, to race and to just move at my own pace. I drove through your roads and lanes, not to catch some bus or to reach a destination. But to see and cherish all that you unfurled in front of me. And yes, I admired every canopy, every bird, every tiny little insect, every bit of you. I just followed you, all the while falling in love with you. I was high, high on the liberty you gave me, to absorb one thing at a time. I'll keep coming back to you, untill I've seen enough of you.
Thank you, thank you for what you did to me. I found me when I found you. 🌼
.
.
I think this photo of a bridge in Havelock just sums up everything. It was more than just a trip. Ending the series here. But will keep posting about this beauty once in a while.

Perspective. A small shift in which can make all the difference in the world.

Spotted this beautiful bright little crab, being feasted on by a bigger crab. After taking a nice look at it, and grabbing some shots, we left it back for it's predator, exactly where it was.
Never miss opportunities to observe and document whatever you can. But you gotta always make sure you put each and everything back to it's own place!

Life,
In all its forms,
In its full glory,
Is a marvel in itself.
Each one, immaculately crafted to support another.
Every cell, every creature, every body that takes away something from the earth, gives it back to her in ways that we might not have discovered yet. Even after it dies, the ecosystem around still benefits from its remains, its caracass.
I don't know if this is all God's creation. But I'm pretty sure that if this is how Life is, then humans must have been created the same way!
Just sayin'!

India Must-Have Equipment and Gear for Scuba Diving

When it comes to scuba diving in India, having the right equipment and gear is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable underwater experience. Here are 10 must-have items to consider packing for your diving adventure:

  1. Mask: A properly fitting mask is crucial for clear vision underwater. Look for a mask with a comfortable silicone skirt, adjustable straps, and a wide field of view. It’s recommended to choose a mask with tempered glass lenses for durability.
  2. Snorkel: A snorkel allows you to breathe at the surface without having to remove your regulator. Opt for a snorkel with a comfortable mouthpiece and a purge valve for easy clearing of water.
  3. Fins: Good-quality fins provide propulsion and maneuverability underwater. Choose fins that fit snugly but not too tight, ensuring they are comfortable for extended use. Open-heel fins with adjustable straps are preferred, as they can be worn with dive boots for added comfort and protection.
  4. Wetsuit: The choice of wetsuit depends on the water temperature and personal preference. In warmer waters, a shorty or thin wetsuit may suffice, while in colder regions, a full-length wetsuit or drysuit is recommended. Consider the thickness and material of the wetsuit based on the dive conditions.
  5. Regulator: The regulator is a critical piece of equipment that allows you to breathe underwater by reducing the high-pressure air from the tank to a breathable pressure. Ensure your regulator is properly serviced and maintained, and choose a reliable brand that meets international safety standards.
  6. Buoyancy Control Device (BCD): The BCD helps you control your buoyancy underwater and provides a means to attach your tank and other accessories. Look for a BCD with an integrated weight system, adjustable straps, and sufficient lift capacity to support your body weight.
  7. Dive Computer: A dive computer is an invaluable tool that tracks important dive information such as depth, time, and decompression limits. It helps you plan and execute safe dives by providing real-time data and alerts. Choose a dive computer that suits your diving style and preferences.
  8. Dive Torch: A dive torch is useful for enhancing visibility during dives, especially in low-light conditions or when exploring crevices and caves. Look for a reliable waterproof torch with adjustable brightness levels and a long battery life.
  9. Dive Knife: A dive knife is a versatile tool that can assist in various situations underwater, such as cutting through entangled lines or freeing yourself from debris. Choose a dive knife with a corrosion-resistant blade, a secure locking mechanism, and a comfortable handle.
  10. Surface Marker Buoy (SMB): An SMB is an inflatable tube used to signal your position to the surface during ascents or in case of emergency. It enhances diver safety by alerting boat traffic and acting as a visual reference point. Opt for a compact, easily deployable SMB with a line and a sturdy attachment point.

Remember to properly maintain and inspect your equipment before each dive. Rinse your gear with freshwater after diving to remove salt and debris, and store it in a cool, dry place to prevent damage.

While dive centers in India may provide some equipment for rental, having your own gear ensures comfort, familiarity, and hygiene. Invest in quality equipment that fits well and suits your diving needs. If you’re unsure about the selection or fitting of equipment, consult with a dive professional or equipment specialist.
